Gold Vermeil Care
Gold Vermeil Care
Vermeil is a term used to describe high-quality jewellery that features a thick layer of gold on top of a base metal, Sterling Silver. For jewellery to be classified as vermeil, the gold layer must be at least 2.5 microns thick. However, La Lune takes it a step further by ensuring a remarkable 4-micron thickness, which significantly enhances the longevity and durability of our pieces.
It is important to take care of your gold vermeil jewellery to extend the life span.
So how do you protect your vermeil jewellery?
Here are just a few tips:
Remove your jewellery before you swim in chlorine or salt water.
Remove your jewellery before participating in activities that will cause you to sweat a lot.
Wait to put on your jewellery until after you have applied lotion, makeup or perfume.
Remove jewellery if you will be bringing it into contact with something hard. (For example, take off your ring before lifting weights).
Store your vermeil jewellery where it won’t rub against other hard substances (a soft bag—one per piece of jewellery—is ideal).
If your jewellery is tarnished beyond what a good cleaning can remedy, all is not lost. You can breathe new life into your jewellery by having it the vermeil redone. Simply email us at hello@lalunecollective.com
Gold vermeil jewellery will remain bright and shine for a longer period of time if you know how to clean and protect it from scratches or fading.
